Assessment of Community Interest in establishing a Restoration Advisory Board for the Former Lordstown Ordnance DepotThe former Lordstown Ordnance Depot (FLOD) is located within the Village of Lordstown, in Trumbull County, Ohio. It is approximately 5 miles south-southwest of Warren, Ohio. The Property covers approximately 520 acres.Department of Defense (DoD) owned the property from 1942 to 1967. The original property that compromised the FLOD consisted of approximately 565 acres. Approximately 45 acres were previously sold from 1947 to 1948 and are now occupied by residential landowners, leaving the 520 acres that currently make up the Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) property. After construction, the FLOD was used to transport, store, and recondition combat-related military equipment and supplies from 1943 to 1945. From 1945 to 1956, the property was used to store, repair, and maintain military equipment and vehicles. In 1956, the mission was terminated and the FLOD was used to provide administrative and logistical support for the Army Reserve. In 1963, the depot was placed on inactive status. In 1967, most of the property was transferred to the Trumbull Board of Education and the Community Improvement Corporation of Warren and Trumbull County. The Community Improvement Corporation of Warren and Trumball County subsequently deeded the land to the Ohio Commerce Center. The Ohio Commerce Center continues to use the land as a commercial park.Three discrete AOCs (former Railroad Salvage Yard, former Burn Pit area, and Former Waste Oil Pit) were identified within the Ohio Commerce Center property where chemicals associated with historical DoD operations may have impacted soil and groundwater. USACE Louisville District is completing an amended Feasibility Study to assess the Former Waste Oil Pit.As part of any environmental restoration project, the DoD encourages community involvement through Restoration Advisory Boards (RABs). A RAB provides an interactive opportunity for stakeholders to have early involvement in the environmental restoration process.A RAB informational session will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 starting at 6:00pm, at the Lordstown Administrative Center Community Room, located at 1455 Salt Springs Rd, Warren, OH, 44481. The RAB presentation/discussion will provide further information on the process to establish a RAB for the FLOD, if warranted. Additionally, community interest forms will be available for anyone interested in serving on a RAB, if established. The Louisville District welcomes public feedback regarding interest in establishing a potential RAB for the FLOD. Inquiries should be directed to Charles Delano, Louisville District Public Affairs Office via phone (502) 315-6769, email, FUDSLRLPublicComments@usace.army.mil , or by mail at the following address: 600 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Place, Louisville, KY, 40202 by April 10, 2026.The information repository, which contains the project documents, is housed at the Warrant location of the Warren-Trumbull Library, 444 Mahoning Avenue NW, Warren, OH 44483.#061-1T-March 2, 2026-#1234
