JAMES CITY COUNTY HOUSING OFFICE TO OPEN WAITING LIST FOR HOUSING CHOICE
VOUCHER (Section 8) PROGRAM
James City County Housing Office announces it will be accepting applications on-line for its Housing Choice Voucher Program waiting list beginning Wednesday, May 20, 2026, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Applications must be submitted on-line at
www.waitlistcheck.com/va2701.
To better serve applicants and to make the application process available to all, including those who are least likely to apply, the entire application process is available on-line at

Status information regarding placement on the waiting list will be available on-line shortly after the closing date. Instructions regarding obtaining status information are provided during the on-line application process. Applications can only be provided on-line. The time and date of receipt of the application online has no bearing on whether an application will be selected for the waiting list. There is no need or advantage to applying immediately after the list opens.
Applications will be selected and ordered using a random lottery system. Not all applicants will be placed on the Waiting List.
Waiting list preference will be given to current residents of James City County.
