Notice of Public HearingSussex County Board of SupervisorsPursuant to Section 15.2-2204 of the Code of Virginia, notice is hereby given that the Sussex County Board of Supervisors, will hold a public hearing on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in the General District Courtroom - Sussex Judicial Center, 15098 Courthouse Road, Sussex, Virginia 23884.The Board of Supervisors will consider, and may take action upon, the following:Conditional Rezoning Application #2026-02: The applicant, Columbia Gas Transmission, LLC, seeks to rezone Tax Parcel 19-A-1, containing approximately 74.5 acres out of 683 acres from General Agricultural (A-1) District to General Industrial (I-2) District to construct and operate a liquefied natural gas storage facility. This application is being considered in conjunction with a concurrent application for Conditional Use Permit (CUP) #2026-04 and additional acreage to be subject to the CUP. In addition to the proposed change in zoning classification, an approved CUP is required for the operation of a liquefied natural gas storage facility. The Property is owned by Columbia Gas Transmission, LLC and is located at 36127 Shingleton Road in Waverly, Virginia within the Blackwater Election District.Conditional Use Permit #2026-04: The applicant, Columbia Gas Transmission, LLC, seeks a Conditional Use Permit to construct and operate a liquefied natural gas storage facility (the "Project") on approximately 83.1 acres out of 683 acres on Tax Parcel 19-A-1. The Project would be located at 36127 Shingleton Road within the Waverly Planning Area and the Blackwater Election District, approximately 3 miles northeast from the Town of Waverly. The Project will consist of one (1) 145 foot Storage Tank, Administration Building, Warehouse & Auxiliary Building, and a Fire Water Pump Building. The facility will be connecting into an existing pipeline system line which crosses the property. Unused gas sourced from various sources across the applicant's footprint will be taken off the line during non-peak periods and stored in the Storage Tank.Conditional Use Permit #2026-06: The applicant, Mid- Atlantic Broadband Communities Corp., seeks a Conditional Use Permit to construct and operate a small telecommunication facility (the "Project") on 7.3 acres on Tax Parcel 66-A-11D. The Project would be located on the property beside the Dollar General at 12428 Booth Road within the Stony Creek Planning Area and the Stony Creek Election District. The applicant proposes to install a 14' x27' precast concrete telecommunication shelter on the northern portion of the property which is accessed from Booth Road. The shelter will house fiber optic regeneration and optical transport equipment necessary to support regional broadband connectivity.Conditional Use Permit #2026-07: The applicant, Maginniss + del Ninno Architects., seeks a Conditional Use Permit to utilize the existing old Jefferson Elementary School building as a community center and preschool/Daycare Center on 7.3 acres (Tax Parcel 147-A-83). The proposal is located at 9436 Mayes Street, Jarratt, VA 23867 within the Jarratt Planning Area and the Henry Election District.
