Invitation for Bids 2026 HIGH FRICTION SURFACE TREATMENT PROJECT The Nevada County Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Nevada County Public Works Department, is accepting Sealed bids until the hour of 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2026, for 2026 High Friction Surface Treatment Project. County Project No. 225039, Federal Project No. HRRRL 5917(124).The work to be performed includes the following: The work to be done, in general, consists of the application of High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) to fourteen curves throughout rural Nevada County. The work includes traffic control, dig-out and repair of failed pavement, resin crack treatment, road sweeping, road surface preparation, protection in place (masking) of existing striping, protection in place (masking) of existing recessed markers and marker recesses, protection in place (masking) of existing paved shoulders, raised pavement marker removal, automated continuous HFST application, excess calcined bauxite aggregate removal, replacement of striping damaged by dig-out and repair, placement of raised pavement markers and replacement of damaged or missing recessed pavement markers. All work items that are required by plans, Standard Specifications or these Special Provisions shall be completed. The Engineer’s Estimate for this contract is $920,000 Bids shall be UNIT PRICES Complete work within 45 working days. Contractor will be required to possess a CLASS A contractor’s license or a combination of classes required by the categories and types of work included in this contract at the time the bid is submitted. The contractor must be properly licensed as a contractor from contract award through contract acceptance (Public Contract Code § 10164). A pre-bid conference or walk-through will NOT be held.
