Public hearing on Tahoe Valley Area Plan amendment and vacation home rental appeal.

NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING: CITY OF SOUTH LAKE TAHOE PLANNING COMMISSION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Sections 65090 and 65091 (Planning and Zoning Law) of the Government Code, the City of South Lake Tahoe Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on March 19, 2026, at 3:00 pm., or as soon thereafter as possible, in the City Council Chambers, 1901 Lisa Maloff Way, South Lake Tahoe Airport, to consider the following agenda items.
 * Tahoe Valley Area Plan Amendment PresentationSummary: Staff has initiated amending the Tahoe Valley Area Plan to include the South “Y” Industrial Tact Community Plan as a noncontiguous portion of the Area Plan. The City has experienced a shift in commercial trends since the South “Y” Industrial Tract's most recent amendment in 2008 and is pursuing to amend the polices in this area to align with today’s business trends. Staff is currently conducting outreach and community engagement for the proposed amendment. (Gretchen Schooleman, gschooleman@cityofslt.gov)
 * Vacation Home Rental Application Denial Appeal, 3604 Bill Avenue, APN 027-113--016Summary: On January 6, 2026, the City Clerk received an appeal from Ms. Melisa Medina Cruz, appealing the City’s decision to reject their application for a vacation home rental permit pursuant to SLTCC Section 3.50.380(F). The VHR application was rejected because the property is located within 150 feet of another parcel outside the Tourist Core Area Plan, which has a valid home vacation rental permit.
