AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HEMET, CALIFORNIA, REPEALING AND REPLACING ARTICLE XVIII (SHORT-TERM LODGING) OF CHAPTER 18 (BUSINESSES) OF THE HEMET MUNICIPAL CODE IN ITS ENTIRETY TO UPDATE SHORT-TERM RENTAL REGULATIONS, INCORPORATE THE SHORT-TERM RENTAL FACILITATOR ACT OF 2025 (SENATE BILL 346), AND ESTABLISH ENHANCED DATA REPORTING, AUDIT, AND ENFORCEMENT STANDARDS APPLICABLE TO SHORT-TERM RENTAL FACILITATORS OPERATING WITHIN THE CITY
Ordinance 2075: an ordinance of the City of Hemet, California, repealing and replacing Article XVIII (Short-Term Lodging) of Chapter 18 of the Hemet Municipal Code to update and strengthen the City’s short-term rental regulations. The ordinance incorporates the California Short-Term Rental Facilitator Act of 2025 (Senate Bill 346) and establishes enhanced requirements for short-term rental platforms, including data reporting, audits, permit verification, and compliance with the transient occupancy tax. The ordinance is intended to protect neighborhood character, public health, safety, and welfare while improving enforcement and accountability for short-term rental activity within the City.
