NOTICE OF INTENT TO APPROVE
ADMINISTRATIVE PERMITS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to applicable law, that the Shasta County Planning Director has determined that the proposed uses meet all applicable criteria and on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, intends to approve the following Administrative Permit:
The Desmond Family 2002 Trust has requested approval of an Administrative Permit for an assemblage of people consisting of an American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) three-day motocross racing event that will take place annually for a three-year term beginning in 2026. The racing event and related concessions will occur on the last weekend of May each year and be open to racers and the general public, no earlier than 9 a.m. and conclude by approximately 5 p.m. each race day. A temporary event camping area will be provided on the property for use by self-contained recreational vehicles only. The project site is located approximately 0.03 miles north of the intersection Poplar Street and State Highway 299 East and will be accessed from a driveway located on the north side of State Highway 299 East between Poplar Street and Shasta Street. The property on which the assemblage of people is proposed to take place is undeveloped and used for grazing and agricultural purposes. Copies of the applications and all reference documents associated with each project are on file and available for review in the Department of Resource Management, Planning Division, 1855 Placer Street, Suite 103, Redding, California 96001; Telephone (530) 225-5532. All interested parties are encouraged to comment on the merits of the project to be authorized by the permit and may submit comments up to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the department address noted above. Persons wishing to submit comments are encouraged to first contact the staff planner listed for each project.
The Planning Director is authorized to approve Administrative Permits without a public hearing. Appeals must be submitted in writing to the Department of Resource Management, Planning Division, within five calendar days of the permit approval date stated above. Appeals are subject to processing fees. Please note that any challenge of the proposed action in court may be limited to only those issues raised during the public comment period described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the Planning Director on, or prior to, the approval date.
