AVAILABILITY OF A NOTICE OF PREPARATION FOR A DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT SAN DIEGO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TERMINAL 2 EAST (T2E) MODERNIZATION PROJECT PROJECT LOCATION: Pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority has completed a Notice of Preparation (NOP) for a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the T2E Modernization Project proposed for San Diego International Airport located in the City of San Diego. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The existing Terminal 2 East (T2E) was originally constructed in 1979 and was renovated and expanded several times since opening. The terminal complex includes a headhouse that provides presecurity passenger processing, ticketing, checkin, baggage claim, and security screening functions, and a concourse that provides postsecurity access to aircraft gates, passenger seating, retail and concessions, restrooms, and other passenger services. Both the terminal and concourse are two level structures, with Level 1 referred to as the ground level, and Level 2 referred to as the concourse level. The proposed T2E Modernization Project encompasses a modernization of the T2E headhouse, concourse, landside, airside, and supporting utilities to enhance efficiency and passenger experience, while preserving core infrastructure and maintaining operations. T2E currently provides access to 13 gates, which does not change with the implementation of the modernization Project.
