Notice of Vacancy - Farmworker Advisory Commission: The President of the Board of Supervisors Noelia Corzo announced that applications are being accepted for appointments to the San Mateo County Farmworker Advisory Commission. There are currently two (2) vacancies. Eligible persons must be a resident of San Mateo County and be eligible from one of the following: One (1) member representing Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) that serve & benefit the County's farmworker population , including organizations such as: Coastside Hope, Ayudando Latinos A So¤ar (ALAS), and Puente de la Costa Sur; and One (1) member representing the County's Agricultural Industry who is not a farmworker . This ten-member Commission promotes programs and policies that address the unmet needs of farmworkers in San Mateo County. Potential areas of focus include: advising the Board of Supervisors and County agencies on effectively outreaching to farmworkers and their families; helping farmworkers and their families navigate public agencies and access benefits and services; raising awareness among farmworkers about labor laws and other protections; bringing visibility to issues that disproportionately affect farmworkers; and helping to build trust and relationships in the County's agricultural community, particularly between employers and employees. The Commission meets on the 2 nd Wednesdays of odd-numbered months from 7:00-8:30pm, alternating locations between the Half Moon Bay Library and Pescadero High School.
