NOTICE OF MARIN COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION HEARING Offsite objective design and development standards (ODDS) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Marin County Planning Commission will hold a workshop to discuss Offsite Objective Design and Development Standards during a public hearing scheduled on Monday, May 11 2026. The County's current regulations related to offsite development standards date back to the 1970s, and include subjective design guidelines. State laws mandate that local governments use only objective standards to regulate housing development in many circumstances, and further establish that certain standards can be waived by request of the developer unless they are required to ensure compliance with specified environmental laws or have an articulated public health or safety basis. The offsite objective design and development standards are to replace subjective design guidelines with measurable, verifiable criteria that ensure a predictable and streamlined approval process for housing projects while maintaining safe and adequate public infrastructure.
