CITY OF SAUSALITONOTICE OF PLANNING COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING FOR ZONING ORDINANCE TEXT AMENDMENTS TO TITLE 10 CHAPTER 10.42 ‘SIGN AND AWNING REGULATIONS’NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Sausalito Planning Commission will hold a public hearing beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 420 Litho Street, Sausalito, CA to consider the following: * Amendments to Title 10 (Zoning Ordinance) of the Sausalito Municipal Code, Chapter 10.42 ‘Sign and Awning Regulations’ Proposed amendments will update the City of Sausalito Sign Ordinance (Sausalito Municipal Code Chapter 10.42) to ensure sign regulations are consistent with current constitutional and legal standards, and to streamline the permitting process. The amendments seek to replace content-based sign categories with content-neutral regulations focused on objective physical characteristics such as size, height, quantity, location, illumination, and materials. In addition, the proposed amendments will expand the Administrative Sign Permit process to allow the Community Development Director to approve common sign types that meet objective standards, eliminating the need for discretionary Planning Commission review for most applications. The amendments described above are categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15061.b.3 of the CEQA Guidelines. What Will Happen: During the May 27, 2026, meeting the Planning Commission will consider all public testimony, both oral or written, and decide whether to recommend City Council adoption of the proposed Zoning Ordinance Amendments. The Planning Commission may also decide to modify proposed amendments or request additional revisions.Public Comment and Participation: Any interested person may attend the meeting to comment in person.
