City of Solana BeachNOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGNOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held by the City Council of the City of Solana Beach in the Council Chambers to consider the project summarized below. DATE AND TIME: Wednesday, May 06, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. PROJECT CASE NUMBER: Ordinance 542 – Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance Update PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The City Council will be considering introduction of Ordinance 542 that would update the City’s Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance. The proposed regulation modification and standards are intended to be consistent with State Law as well as to incentivize and promote the creation of ADUs that can offer affordable rents for all household income levels. These proposed amendments are consistent with and implement a portion of the 6th Cycle Housing Element Program 1B ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS: The project is exempt from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) pursuant to Section 21080.17 of the Public Resources Code relating to the construction of second units, which exempts the adoption of an ordinance by a city to implement the provisions of Government Code Section 66314. The Ordinance would update the provisions of the City’s Municipal Code to conform with state law requirement relating to development of ADUs and Junior ADUs, and it does not change permitted land uses on any property nor increase the density of residential uses that property owners are permitted to develop on their property. Therefore, adoption of the Ordinance is exempt from the provisions of CEQA STAFF CONTACT: John Delmer 858-720-2445 or jdelmer@cityofsolanabeach.ca.gov [jdelmer@cityofsolanabeach.ca.gov] ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Written material submitted to the City Clerk before the date of the hearing, and after the agenda posting, will be distributed to all City Councilmembers and available for the public for consideration. All interested persons are strongly encouraged to submit written materials before this deadline if they want their submittals to be considered. Please note that pursuant to the Solana Beach Municipal Code, all exhibits, reports, maps and other physical evidence placed before the City Council should be provide to the City and will be retained by the City Clerk, unless photographic copies of said material are presented in their place for the record. If you challenge the project in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised at the public hearing described in this notice or in written correspondence delivered to the City of Solana Beach prior to the public hearing.
