NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGNotice is hereby given that the Whittier City Council will conduct a de novo public hearing on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon after as the matter can be heard, in the Council Chamber, 13230 Penn Street, on the following matter: Conditional Use Permit No. CUP25-0010 a request to authorize the sale of alcoholic beverages (beer, wine and distilled spirits) under a Type 48 (On-Sale General – Public Premises) ABC license for a new indoor lounge with outdoor seating with extended hours of operation, live entertainment, arcades and pool tables located at 7008 Walnut Grove Drive, (d.b.a. CAPO House at Rodeo 72) more particularly described as Assessor’s Identification No. (A.I.N) 8170-040-093 in the City of Whittier (Applicant: Tom Carpenter and Owner: Whittier and Sorensen, LLC).The project is categorically exempt from the environmental review process, pursuant to Section 15301, Class 1 (Existing Facilities) of the California Environmental Quality Act.Hazardous Waste Sites: The project site is not located on any of the lists enumerated under Government Code Section 65952.5.Please review the May 26, 2026, meeting agenda, which will be available on the city’s website, https://www.cityofwhittier.org/government/agendas-and-minutes , for the most up-to-date options for participating in City Council meetings.Public Comment options for City Council Meetings :• Email: ccd@cityofwhittier.org (must be submitted prior to 5:00 p.m. on May 26, 2026)Any person wishing to comment on the proposed project may do so in writing between the date of this notice and the public hearing(s); or, may be heard via Zoom at the time noted above.
