NOTICE OF APPLICATION
The Department of Environmental Protection announces receipt of an application for permit 455057-001-E2 from Volusia County Coastal Division to conduct a mechanical sediment removal project specifically designed to enhance safe navigational access for boaters and improve overall flushing within Spruce Creek. The proposed project is located within Spruce Creek, specifically under the Florida East Coast (FEC) railroad trestle on the west side of Strickland Bay in Volusia County, Florida. The project site has a central latitude and longitude of 29 4' 48.3816" N and 80 59' 0.6354" W, respectively. The proposed project will include approximately 2,710 cubic yards of dredged material, with an upland sediment disposal site located at 1990 Tomoka Farms Road, Port Orange, FL 32128. The proposed project also includes 1,890 cubic yards of oyster reef relocation within the project area. The oyster relocation plans are being reviewed by both the Department and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
