CITY OF BOWLING GREEN, FLORIDA NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION AND BOOK CLOSING Pursuant to Resolution No. 2026-01 adopted on January 13, 2026, and in accordance with section 100.342, Florida Statutes, notice is hereby given of a city-wide Special Election in the City of Bowling Green, Florida, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, to elect a Commissioner to Vacated Seat #1 furthermore, notice is hereby given of a Special Election to be held in the City of Bowling Green if a run-off election is necessary, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. And to submit a proposed amendment to the City Charter to the qualified electors of the City. Pursuant to section 12-3 of the Bowling Green Code of Ordinances, there shall be a one-week qualification period for this Special Election which shall start at 8:30 a.m. on February 23, 2026, and shall end at 5:00 p.m. on Friday February 27, 2026. Qualifications from the previously set election date that was cancelled will be placed back into qualification unless instructed by the candidate. Proposed Charter Amendment: The existing City Charter shall be amended as follows: The hiring and supervision of the City Clerk shall be removed from the City Manager and placed under the hiring and supervision of the City Commission. Shall the above-described amendment be approved? YES NO Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. To vote, you must be a registered voter residing within the City limits of Bowling Green. The voter registration books will close at 5:00 p.m. on February 23, 2026. Persons at least 16 years of age may pre-register to vote. Any person who will become 18 years of age on or before March 24, 2026, and who pre-registers by February 23, 2026, will be eligible to vote in this election upon attaining the age of 18. Voter Registration and updates may be completed through the Hardee County Supervisor of Elections.
