NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSIDER ADOPTION OF COUNTY ANNUAL RATE RESOLUTION -- CANALS NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN that on May 20, 2026, at 9:00 A.M., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, at the Harvey Government Center, 1200 Truman Avenue, Key West, FL 33040 , the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, will hold a public hearing to consider adoption of the following County Resolution: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE CANAL RESTORATION PROGRAM; IMPOSING ANNUAL MAINTENANCE ASSESSMENTS FOR PROPERTIES LOCATED WITHIN THE CANAL RESTORATION MUNICIPAL SERVICE BENEFIT UNIT FOR CANALS 105, 82-83-84, AND 266; APPROVING THE NON-AD VALOREM ASSESSMENT ROLL; PROVIDING FOR COLLECTION OF MAINTENANCE ASSESSMENTS; AND PROVIDING AN ASSESSMENT DATE. The public hearing is being held for the purpose of receiving public comment on the proposed assessments and collection of the assessment on the ad valorem tax bills. All affected property owners have the right to appear and provide input at the hearing, and may file written objections with the County Administrator at any time prior to the public meeting or within twenty (20) days following the publication of this notice, whichever is greater. The assessments will be collected on the ad valorem tax bill to be mailed in November, 2026, as authorized by Section 197.3632, Florida Statutes. Failure to pay the assessments will cause a tax certificate to be issued against the real property which may result in a loss of title.
