Okeechobee County School Board will consider policy amendments on April 14, 2026.

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD POLICY
In accordance with the Administrative Procedures Act, Chapter 120, Florida Statutes, notice is hereby given that the Okeechobee County School Board will consider amendment or adoption of the School Board policies listed below at their meeting on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., in Room 303 of the School Board Administrative Office at 700 S.W. 2nd Avenue, Okeechobee. Copies of the proposed amendment or adoption are available in the Superintendent's Office, Room 307, 700 S.W. 2nd Avenue, Okeechobee.
Adoption of Athletics  Board Policy 4.09
I.	The proposed adoption is intended to supersede and fully
	replace Board Policy 4.32 (athletics).
II.	Legal authority for this policy is F.S. 1001.41, 1001.42. Laws
	implemented are 768.135, 943.0438, 1000.21, 1001.43,
	1002.20, 1002.31, 1006.07, 1006.15, 1006.16, 1006.20,
	F.S.
III.	This policy amendment will not affect individuals from an
	economic standpoint.
Amendment of Exertional Heat Illness 
Board Policy 4.18*+
I.	The proposed amendment to this policy consists solely of the
	addition of Sunshine State Athletic Association (SSAA); no
	other changes to the policy are being made.
II.	Legal authority for this policy is F.S. 1001.41, 1001.42. Laws
	implemented are 1006.165, F.S.
III.	This policy amendment will not affect individuals from an
	economic standpoint.
Amendment of Participation of Home Education,
Private School, and Virtual School Students
in Extracurricular Activities and Interscholastic
Athletics  Board Policy 4.82*
I.	The proposed amendment to this policy consists solely of the
	addition of Sunshine State Athletic Association (SSAA); no
	other changes to the policy are being made.
II.	Legal authority for this policy is F.S. 1001.41, 1001.42. Laws
	implemented are 1001.43, 1002.31, 1006.15, F.S. State
	Board of Education Rules are 6A-3.017.
III.	This policy amendment will not affect individuals from an
	economic standpoint.
Amendment of Controlled Open Enrollment 
Board Policy 5.20+
I.	The proposed amendment to this policy is to align with state
	law by ensuring a fair and transparent controlled open
	enrollment process
II.	Legal authority for this policy is F.S. 1001.41, 1001.42. Laws
	implemented are 1000.21, 1001.41, 1001.42, 1001.43,
	1001.51, 1002.20, 1002.31, 1002.38, 1013.35, 1002.39,
	1002.394, 1002.40, 1011.68, 1013.35, F.S.
III.	This policy amendment will not affect individuals from an
	economic standpoint.
Amendment of Employment of Athletic Coaches
Who Are Not Full-Time Employees
of the School Board  Board Policy 6.14*
I.	The proposed amendment to this policy consists solely of the
	addition of Sunshine State Athletic Association (SSAA); no
	other changes to the policy are being made.
II.	Legal authority for this policy is F.S. 1001.41, 1012.22,
	1012.23. Laws implemented are 119.07, 1001.43, 1012.22,
	1012.24, 1012.27, 1012.31, 1012.33, 1012.36, 1012.55,
	1012.56, F.S. State Board of Education Rules are 6A-4.0282.
III.	This policy amendment will not affect individuals from an
	economic standpoint.
