30-DAY PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD/PUBLIC HEARING
The City of Sarasota is hereby publishing for public comment the proposed Federal Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-2027 Annual ActionPlan and the Consolidated Plan for Federal Fiscal Years 2026-2030 for the purpose of allocating the Citys CommunityDevelopment Block Grant (CDBG) funds to various eligible activities established by the U.S. Department of Housing andUrban Development (HUD). These federal funds are supplemented with Florida State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP)resources.
The Annual Action Plan identifies proposed projects and activities that the City plans to fund in the next program yearbeginning October 1, 2026, and ending September 30, 2027. These projects and activities are intended to benefit eligiblevery low-income, low-income and persons with special needs in the community. Funding is also programmed to administerthese grants. In the next program year, the City estimates the following entitlement grant allocations and program incomeresources. Please note that actual funding amounts may increase or decrease based upon program income, prior yearadjustments, and/or final federal or state allocations when released. Due to these and other factors, the City reserves theright to adjust, add, or remove projects prior to plan approval/adoption.

The Consolidated Plan, based on a public needs assessment and market analysis, includes a Strategic Plan for the CitysCDBG program over the five-year period spanning Federal fiscal years 2026-2030. The draft Consolidated Plan identifies
priority needs and corresponding goals, focusing on affordable housing availability/access, including those individuals withspecial needs, as well as community development. Subsequent Annual Action Plans will include projects to address thesepriority needs and goals, which may include but are not limited to affordable housing, activities benefiting persons withspecial needs, and public improvements or facilities in eligible neighborhoods.
A draft copy of the proposed City of Sarasota FY 2026-2027 Annual Action Plan and Federal FY 2026-2030 Consolidated Planwill be available from May 19, 2026, through June 17, 2026, at all public libraries and on the City website at:https://www.sarasotafl.gov/government/office-of-housing-and-community-development

The City Commission approvedthe draft FY 2026-2027 Annual Action Plan and FY 2026-2030 Consolidated Plan on May 18, 2026, for publication for publiccomment. The 30-day public comment period begins on May 19, 2026, and ends June 17, 2026. Comments are due no laterthan 5 p.m. on June 17, 2026. A meeting of the City Commission will be held on July 6, 2026, to approve the final Annual Action Plan and Consilidated Plan.
