PUBLIC NOTICE PUBLIC HEARING A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, April 30th, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sumter County Board of Commissioners Board Room at 500 West Lamar Street, Americus, Georgia with the Planning & Zoning Commission for the purpose of receiving citizens input and comments to discuss the following requests. This meeting will be held in person. 2026-R-04-005: To consider a request from Verizon Wireless to rezone parcel number 2730-139-3, also known as 272 Packing House Rd. from a Single Family Residential (R1) zoning district to an Agricultural (AG) zoning district to allow a cell tower to be built on the property. The Sumter County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sumter County Courthouse, Board Room, 500 West Lamar St., Americus, Georgia for the purpose of receiving public input on the preceding zoning request.
