PUBLIC NOTICE PUBLIC HEARING A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, April 30th, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sumter County Board of Commissioners Board Room at 500 West Lamar Street, Americus, Georgia with the Planning & Zoning Commission for the purpose of receiving citizens input and comments to discuss the following requests. This meeting will be held in person. Review a proposed Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Ordinance, which would be added as a Conditional Use within the Ag, I-1, and I-2 Zoning Districts. The Sumter County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sumter County Courthouse, Board Room, 500 West Lamar St., Americus, Georgia for the purpose of receiving public input on the preceding zoning request. As set forth in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1992, Sumter County does not discriminate on the basis of disability, and will assist citizens with special needs given proper notice of seven (7
