Notice of Public HearingTO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
The Rock Island City Planning & Zoning Commission has received a request from Christina Caldwell of Del's Metal Company (DMC) to consider a Special Use Permit in an I-1 light industrial district for the described parcels of land:
PINs 1603105021 and 1603105019 in Rock Island Township, also known as 1600 Mill Street and 1700 1st Street in Rock Island, Illinois.
The applicant requests a Special Use Permit to operate a Junk Yard on the subject properties. The applicant plans to continue storing salvage and scrap metal and materials outdoors in piles no higher than 12 feet along with transferring and cutting the metal on the properties. The applicant also plans to operate normal business hours Monday-Saturday with employees sharing time between the subject properties and DMC's main location at 1605 1st Street. A Special Use Permit is needed because Junk Yards are not allowed in the I-1 district.
