NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING LEGAL NOTICE REGISTRATION OF VOTERS AND VOTING ON 2026-2027 SCHOOL BUDGET, SCHOOL BUSES, AND ELECTION OF BOARD MEMBERS EAST GREENBUSH CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT Notice is hereby given that a public hearing of the inhabitants of the above named district will be held at the Central Administration Boardroom, locat- ed at 29 Englewood Ave, East Greenbush, NY, on May 6, 2026 at 7:00 pm., lo- cal time. Information will be available on the District's website, www.egcsd. org, or by contacting Jeanne Pangburn at (518) 207-2535 or pangburnje@ egcsd.org. The Board of Education will present at said public hearing, a detailed state- ment in writing, of the amount of money which will be required for the school year 2026 2027 for school purposes. - Copies of said budget, tax exemption notice, and the text of any resolution which will be presented to the voters, may be obtained by any qualified voter of the district at any school office of the district on and after May 6, 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. except Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Copies will also be available at any public library or free association library within the district and on the district's website. Voting on the budget and election of Board members and any propositions will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the locations set forth below. Petitions nominat- ing candidates for the office of member of Board of Education must be filed with the District Clerk no later than April 20, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Election of Board Members will be on an at-large basis. Candidates receiving a plural- ity of the votes cast respectively for the several offices shall be declared elected in accordance with Section 2034, Paragraph 7 of the Education Law. Three vacancies are to be filled. The vacancies are for (3) three-year terms commencing on July 1, 2026 and expiring on June 30, 2029. Any propositions to amend the budget, or otherwise to be submitted for voting at the election, must be filed with the District Clerk no later than April 20, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Each proposition must be signed by at least fifty-seven (57) qualified voters of the district, which is the greater of 25 or 2% (two percent) of the number of voters who voted in the May 2025 annual election. Any proposition may be rejected by the Board of Education if the purpose of the proposition is not within the power of the voters, or where the expenditure of monies is required by the proposition, if the proposition fails to include the necessary specific appropriation. The District reserves the right to alter the language of a proposition in order to ensure compliance with the law. DESCRIPTION OF VOTING DISTRICTS VOTING DISTRICT #1 (Donald P. All residents of the East Greenbush Central School District who have a Nassau, New York mail- ing address. b.Those residents of the East Greenbush Central School District who live in the Town of Sand Lake. c.Those residents of the East Greenbush Central School District who live in the Town of Chatham in Columbia County. RESOLVED: That the operating budget, in the amount of $ as proposed by the Board of Education, be ad- opted for the school fiscal year 2026-2027 and the levy of taxes be assessed therefore in accordance with law. PROPOSITION NO. 2 SCHOOL BUSES PROPOSITION RESOLVED: That the Board of Education of the East Greenbush Central School District is hereby authorized to purchase six (6) gas/diesel powered school buses, ranging in capacity from fifty-three (53) to seventy-two (72) passengers, for the pur- pose of providing student transportation and ancillary educational purposes, including original equip- ment, preliminary costs, financing, and incidental expenses for the forego- ing purpose, at a total estimated cost after taking into account state aid and trade-in value, not to exceed $1,100,000; and that such sum or so much thereof as the Board may deem appropriate, in its discretion, shall be paid from the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund established on or about May 20, 2025, and that the Board of Education is hereby further authorized to deposit in the such Bus Purchase Reserve Fund an amount up to 100% of any State Aid received in any year with respect to the purchase of vehicles. NOTICE IS ALSO HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to Section 2014 of the Educa- tion Law, personal registration of voters is required and no person shall be entitled to vote at said meeting whose name does not appear on the regis- ter of said school district or who does not register as hereinafter provided, except a person who is otherwise qualified to vote and is registered under the provisions of the Election Law. The Board of Registration shall prepare a register for said annual district meeting, except that the register prepared at the last special meeting or election shall be used as the basis therefore and shall include all persons who shall have presented themselves personally for registration thereat and also per- sons who shall have been previously registered hereunder for any annual or special district meeting or election held or conducted at any time where four years prior to the preparation of said register. VOTER REGISTRATION The Board of Education of the East Greenbush Cen- tral School District in the Counties of Rensselaer and Columbia, New York has a system of walk-in voter registration during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and to 4:00 p.m. on regular days of business at the Office of the District Clerk located in the Central Administration Building. QUALIFICATION OF VOTERS A person shall be entitled to register, and to vote if registered, at any school meeting for the election of school district officers, and upon all other mat- ters which may be brought before such meeting who is: 1. A citizen of the United States 2. Eighteen years of age 3. A resident within the district for a period of thirty days preceding the meeting at which he/she offers to vote. The register of voters prepared by the Board of Registration will be available for inspection by any qualified voter between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. local time at the office of the District Clerk from May 13, 2026 (period of five days), except Sundays. Voting at the annual election and budget vote will be by voting machine. Early mail ballots may be applied for at the office of the District Clerk. A list of all persons to whom early mail ballots shall have been issued will be available in the office of the District Clerk on each of the five days prior to the day of the vote except Sundays, and such list will also be posted at the polling place or places for the vote. Provision is also made for absentee balloting for election of members of the Board of Edu- cation and vote on the district budget and propositions. Applications for absentee ballots are available at the Office of the District Clerk. Such ap- plication must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter.
