NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON BUDGET/ANNUAL MEETING/BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION/BUDGET VOTE
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Central School District of the Town of Catskill, Greene County, New York, hereby authorizes and directs the Board Clerk to give notice to the qualified voters of the School District of the Annual Public Hearing on the Budget and the Annual Meeting including District Election and Vote, as follows:
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON BUDGET/ANNUAL MEETING/BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION/BUDGET VOTE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Board of Education of the Catskill Central School District, Greene County, New York, will hold the Annual Public Hearing on the Budget on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Catskill High School Library for the presentation of the 2026-2027 Budget of the Catskill Central School District and Catskill Public Library.
NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN, that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for School District purposes during the ensuing year (the Budget), as prepared by the Board of Education, may be obtained by any resident of the District during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the Annual Meeting, commencing Wednesday, April 29, 2026, except Saturdays, Sunday or holidays, during regular school hours 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., at the Office of the Superintendent of Schools, 343 West Main Street, Catskill, New York, at each school building and at each free association and public library in the District. The Budget and attachments will also be available on the District’s website. The real property tax exemption report will be annexed to any tentative/preliminary budget as well as the final adopted budget of which it will form a part; and shall be posted on District bulletin board(s) maintained for public notices, as well as the District’s website.
NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN, that the following items will be presented to the qualified voters of the Catskill Central School District at the Catskill Senior High School Gymnasium on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, when the polls will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for the purpose of voting, by voting machine:
1. BOARD MEMBER CANDIDATES
To elect four members to the Board of Education:
3 Members for three year terms (July 1, 2026- June 30, 2029) Seats held by Michael Dedrick, Ryan Osswald (Charles Holtz appointed to vacancy), and Joseph Izzo (Paul Brown appointed to vacancy).
1 Member to complete the unexpired term of Junait Shah (May 20, 2026- June 30, 2028)
2.THE BUDGET
Shall the Board of Education of the Catskill Central School District, Greene County, New York, be authorized to expend the sums of money, which will be required for School District purposes for the 2026-2027 school years, in the amount of $51,742,991
(The Budget), and to levy $21,620,956 against the taxable real property in the School District?
3. CATSKILL PUBLIC LIBRARY BUDGET FOR 2027 FISCAL YEAR
Shall the sum of $1,251,981, separate and apart from the Catskill Central School District budget, for the support and maintenance of the Catskill Public Library for calendar year 2027 and that the necessary tax be levied to pay the same?

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, that the District has walk-in voter registration and any person can register to vote with the School District from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday on days when the District Offices are open, at the Board Clerk’s Office, 343 West Main Street, Catskill, New York, until May 5, 2026 for the Annual Meeting on May 19, 2026.
Any person shall be entitled to have his/her name placed upon the register provided that he/she personally appears and is known or proven to the satisfaction of the Board Clerk to be then or thereafter entitled to vote at the School District Election and Budget Vote. No person shall be entitled to vote whose name does not appear either on the register of this District or on the appropriate election district register of the Greene County Board of Elections.
The register of voters so prepared shall be filed in the Board Clerk’s office and shall be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the District on weekdays between the hours of 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM, prevailing time, on each of the five days prior to the Annual School District Election and Vote and in the polling place during the Annual School District Election and Vote.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, that application for absentee and early mail ballots may be obtained at the Office of the Board Clerk, 343 West Main Street, Catskill, New York. Applications for absentee and early mail ballots must be received by the Board Clerk at least seven (7) days prior to the election and vote (by May 12, 2026) if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or the day before the election (May 19, 2026) if the ballot will be picked up personally by the voter at the Office of the Board Clerk. All qualified voters who meet the criteria for “permanently disabled” and are so certified by the Greene County Board of Elections will receive absentee ballots by mail. Absentee and early mail ballots must be received in the Office of the Board Clerk not later than 5:00 P.M. on the day of the Election and Vote, May 19, 2026. A list of all persons to whom absentee and early mail ballots shall have been issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District at the Office of the Board Clerk during regular office hours, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, until the day of the Annual District Election & Vote.
Military voters who are qualified voters of Catskill Central School District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the Board Clerk. For a military voter to be issued a military ballot, the Board Clerk must have received a valid ballot application no later than 5:00 pm on April 24, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. The School District will transmit military ballots to military voters on April 24, 2026. Completed military ballots must be received by the School District by 5:00 pm on May 19, 2026 in order to be counted.
