LEGAL ADVERTISEMENT KIRYAS JOEL UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT NOTICE OF VOTE ON BUDGET AND REGISTRATION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to the Education Law the day designated for holding the annual meeting of the qualified voters of the Kiryas Joel Union Free School District of the Town of Palm Tree, NY 10950, is the 19th day of May, 2026 for the transaction of such business as is authorized by the Education Law. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that as authorized by said Education Law, in lieu of the annual meeting of all election districts said School District in one place, the vote by the qualified voters of Kiryas Joel Union Free School District upon the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the estimated expenditures of the Kiryas Joel Union Free School District during the school year 2026-27, as prescribed by law, and upon any propositions involving the expenditures of monies by said school district, authorizing the levy of taxes, will be held on the 19th day of May, 2026, and the polls will be open for said votes on said day from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., daylight savings time at the polling place located at the location of the Kiryas Joel Public School, 1 Dinev Road Monroe, NY 10950. Copies of the proposed budget of expenditures of Kiryas Joel Union Free School District during the school year of 2026-27 together with the texts of any resolution to be presented to the voters may be obtained by any taxpayer in the Kiryas Joel Union Free School District at the Office of the Clerk in the Office of the Board of Education within such district on each day between the hours of 9:00 o'clock A.M. and 5:00 o'clock P.M., and Friday until 1:00 P.M., during each of the fourteen days preceding the voting other than Saturday, Sunday or Holidays. For the purpose of discussion of the aforesaid expenditure of funds and budgeting thereof, a public hearing will be held on the 23th day of April, 2026 at 7:00 P.M. Prevailing Time, at the Kiryas Joel Union Free School District, office of the District Clerk, 48 Bakertown Road Suite #401, Monroe, NY 10950 at which time the proposed budget will be voted upon by the Board of Education. An additional public hearing will be held on the 12th of May, 2026 at 7:00 P.M. Prevailing Time at the Kiryas Joel Union Free School District, office of the District Clerk, 48 Bakertown Road Suite #401, Monroe, NY 10950 to allow for public comment on the adopted budget. 2 OF 3 ELECTION OF TRUSTEES AND PROPOSITIONS NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that an election will be held for the purpose of electing one (1) member of the Board of Education of the Kiryas Joel Union Free School District to a term of five (5) years and one (1) member of the Board of Education for an unexpired term of three (3) years. One vacancy to be filled is that created by the expiration of the term of office of Simon Kepecs, the other vacancy was created by the resignation of Moses Hirsch. An election will be held on Tuesday, May 19th, 2026, and the polls will be open for such election on said day from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Daylight Saving Time, at the Kiryas Joel Public School, 1 Dinev Road, Monroe, NY 10950. The position of the names of all candidates for Board Membership on the ballot of the voting machine shall be fixed by lot. The candidates receiving the largest number of votes for their respective seats shall be declared elected to the term of five (5) years and three (3) years, said candidates to take office on July 1st. Nomination for the Office of Member of Board of Education shall be made by petition subscribed by no less than twenty five (25) qualified electors of the School District and filed with the District Clerk no later than April 20, 2026 between the hours of 9:00 o'clock A.M. and 5:00 o'clock P.M. and until 1:00 P.M. on Friday and such nominating petition shall be directed to the District Clerk and shall state the name and residence address of each qualified elector subscribing the nominating petitions. Forms of the nomination petitions may be obtained at the Office of Superintendent of Schools, 48 Bakertown Road, Suite #401, Monroe, NY 10950. Voting machines will be used for the tabulation of all votes upon proposition and the election of the members of the Board of Education. The meeting vote on proposed expenditures during the school year 2026-27 and the election of members of the Board will be conducted according to the Education Law. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that at such annual meeting, in addition to the budget proposition the Board may present other Propositions in the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the meeting. 3 OF 3 REGISTRATION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that no person shall be allowed to vote on May 19, 2026 unless they are registered for School District voting purposes or under the Election Law of the State of New York for general voting purposes. Each person must appear personally before the Board of Registration of the School District at the place hereinafter stated. For the purpose of preparing a register of the qualified voters of said School District, a personal voter registration has been set for Thursday, May 5, 2026, between the hours of 9:00 o'clock A.M. and 5:00 o'clock P.M. Prevailing Time, at the Kiryas Joel Union Free School District, Office of the District Clerk, 48 Bakertown Rd. Suite #401 Monroe, NY 10950, during the times, and at which place, members of the Board of Registration shall place upon the School District Register the names of all qualified voters personally appearing before them, provided they are known to be or prove to the satisfaction of such Board Members that they are or shall be entitled to vote at the above specified School District Meeting and election to be held as aforesaid. In accordance, with the Permanent Registration provisions of the Education Law of the State of New York now in effect, a permanent registration procedure of this School District has been adopted by the Board of Education. Every person who shall be registered to vote at the May 19th, 2026 annual meeting and election will remain registered for all future annual and special meetings unless he or she shall fail to vote within four (4) years prior to the preparation of a future register at all annual and special meetings or elections within such four (4) year period, or he or she shall move out of the School District or shall otherwise become not qualified as a School District Voter. Immediately upon the completion of such register it will be filed in the Kiryas Joel Union Free School District, Office of the District Clerk of the School District at 48 Bakertown Road Suite #401, Monroe, NY 10950 and will remain on file at such office and will be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the District between the hours of 9:00 o'clock A.M. and 3:00 P.M. on each day except Saturday, Sunday or Holidays up to and including the meeting or election for which it was prepared. Not withstanding lack of registration under the provisions of the Education Law, as herein above prescribed, any person, otherwise qualified to vote, who is duly registered and qualified to vote under the provision of the General Election Law of the State of New York, shall be entitled to vote at the meeting on May 19th, 2026.
