PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE CITY OF VACAVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION 650 MERCHANT STREET VACAVILLE, CA 95688 DATE OF HEARING: May 19, 2026 TIME OF HEARING: 6:00 P.M. PLACE OF HEARING: Council Chambers 650 Merchant St. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT: A Public Hearing will be held by the Planning Commission of the City of Vacaville to consider the merits of the following: ---------------------------------------------- ENTERTAINMENT ZONE ORDINANCE ZONING TEXT AMENDMENT Applicant - City of Vacaville File No. 26-036 Citywide Staff Contact: Damiere Powell damiere.powell@cityofvacaville.gov (707) 449-5515 Entertainment Zone Ordinance Zoning Text Amendment The Community Development Department is proposing to amend the Vacaville Municipal Code (VMC) by adding Chapter 12.34 entitled "Entertainment Zones" to create policies, procedures, and standards for establishing and regulating entertainment zones within the City of Vacaville. In 2024, the State of California passed Senate Bill 969, authorizing cities to establish entertainment zones, which are zones created by a city or county ordinance on or after January 1, 2025, to allow the sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption in outdoor public spaces within a zone boundary. Pursuant to Section 15061(b)(3) of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the project is exempt from additional environmental review because there is no possibility that the addition of regulations for entertainment zones to the Vacaville Municipal Code will have a significant effect on the environment. All members of the public are invited to attend and provide public comments on the draft ordinance. Additional information is available at the following website: https://www.cityofvacaville.gov/government/community-development/planning-and-development/new-programs/entertainment-zone-and-parklet-program Additional information is available at the following website: https://www.ci.vacaville.ca.us/government/community-development All persons interested in these matters are invited to be present to submit statements orally or submit in writing prior to 2:00 pm on May 19, 2026, by email to Damiere Powell at damiere.powell@cityofvacaville.gov, or in person at the Community Development Department, 650 Merchant Street. The environmental documents and further information may be obtained from the Community Development Department located at 650 Merchant Street, during regular business hours.
