Purpose and Effect: The purpose of the public hearing is to discuss and obtain public input regarding Policy 6.37 Tobacco-Free Environment. The policy is proposed to be amended as follows:
The tobacco ban now includes possession, display, distribution, and sale of tobacco, vapor products, and related devices.
The rule applies to all individuals (students, staff, visitors, contractors, etc.) at all times and events on District property.
Advertising and promotion bans cover tobacco/vapor products on all District grounds, vehicles, publications, digital platforms, and at school events.
Electronic cigarettes covers any device delivering nicotine or substances by aerosol/vapor, including vape pens and components like e-liquids and pods.
Tobacco product refers broadly to items containing tobacco or nicotine (natural/synthetic), used in various ways; examples include nicotine pouches.
