NOTICE OF PROPOSED
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HERBY GIVEN that the Town of Howey-in-the-Hills Planning and Zoning Board will hold a Public Hearing pursuant to Section 163, Florida Statutes on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. (or as soon thereafter as the matter may be considered) in the Town Council Chambers, Town Hall, 101 N. Palm Ave., Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida 34737 to consider the proposed amendment to the Comprehensive Plan of the Town of Howey-in-the-Hills. The proposed amendment is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLORIDA, AMENDING THE TOWNS COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, AS ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 2024-009, BASED ON THE EVALUATION AND APPRAISAL OF THE TOWNS COMPREHENSIVE PLAN PURSUANT TO SECTION 163.3191, FLORIDA STATUTES; AMENDING AND UPDATING THE FUTURE LAND USE ELEMENT, TRANSPORTATION ELEMENT, HOUSING ELEMENT, PUBLIC FACILITIES ELEMENT, CONSERVATION ELEMENT, RECREATION AND OPEN SPACE ELEMENT, INTERGOVERNMENTAL COORDINATION ELEMENT, CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS ELEMENT, CONCURRENCY MANAGEMENT ELEMENT, PUBLIC SCHOOL ELEMENT, PROPERTY RIGHTS ELEMENT, AND DEFINITIONS; AUTHORIZING TRANSMITTAL TO THE FLORIDA COMMERCE DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION, SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
You may either be present in person at this Public Hearing, represented by counsel, or letter. All interested persons take due notice of the time and place of this Public Hearing and govern yourselves accordingly.
Information on the proposed amendments and copies of Ordinance 2026-005 are available in the Town Clerks Office, 101 N. Palm Ave., Howey-in-the-Hills, FL 34737 for inspection during normal business hours of Mon-Thurs 7 a.m. 5:30 p.m. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) anyone who needs a special accommodation for this meeting should contact the Town Clerk at least 48 hours before the meeting.
Any person who decides to appeal any decision of the Planning and Zoning Board with respect to any matter considered at this meeting will need a record of the proceeding, and for such purposes, they may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made which includes testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is based per Section 286.0105 of the Florida Statutes.
