NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

ON PROPOSED ADOPTION OF LOCAL LAW




PLEASE TAKE NOTICE , that a Public Hearing will be held by the Town Board of the Town of Amherst on May 11, 2026 at 3:00 p.m., prevailing time, at the Amherst Municipal Building, 5583 Main Street, Williamsville, New York 14221, to hear all persons interested in a proposed Local Law entitled “ A Local Law To Establish A Residency Preference For Hiring Employees of the Town of Amherst.”




The purpose of this Local Law shall be to establish a uniform and transparent residency preference for hiring individuals who reside within the Town of Amherst while repealing the existing residency requirements effective through 

May 11, 2032, thus ensuring both equitable treatment of applicants and the continued recruitment of qualified employees to serve the community.




Copies of the proposed Local Law are available for inspection at the Office of the Amherst Town Clerk, 5583 Main Street, Williamsville, New York 14221, during regular business hours. This notice is provided pursuant to Municipal Home Rule Law, Town Law §§130 and 133 and Chapter 28 of the Code of the Town of Amherst.




All persons in favor or opposed to the proposed Local Law are asked to appear at the above time and place.
