The Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) will accept pre-applications for its Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Wait List beginning at 8am on Monday, May 18, 2026. The list will close at 11:59pm on May 21, 2026. The HCV Program is the federal government's primary program for assisting low to mid income families, the elderly, and people with disabilities to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private rental market. The HCV Program provides a housing subsidy paid directly to a property owner on behalf of a participating family. This allows participants to find their own housing, including single-family homes, townhouses and apartments in the location that meets the needs of their family. The family generally pays between 30 -40% of the household's adjusted gross income.
