Koppers Co., Inc. (Texarkana Plant) Superfund Site Public Notice U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 6 December 2025 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 6 will be conducting the sixth five-year review of the cleanup at the Koppers Co., Inc. (Texarkana Plant) site (Site) in Texarkana, Texas. A wood-treatment facility operated on-site from 1903 to 1961. Facility operations contaminated soil and groundwater with wood-treating chemicals. The 62-acre Site is fenced and not in use. Surrounding land use includes residential, industrial and undeveloped properties. The Site's remedy included the purchase of homes and relocation of residents affected by site contamination. It also included building demolition, removal of contaminated soils and off-site disposal of the debris and soils. These activities were completed by 1996.
