On April 28, 2026, the Truckee Town Council adopted Ordinance 2026-01. In substance the ordinance submits to the voters a measure to adopt a one-half percent (0.5%) local transactions and use tax in the Town of Truckee to be administered by the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration, with all proceeds dedicated to a special fund for the maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and improvement of Town streets and roads. The proposed special tax requires approval by Truckee voters by two-thirds vote at the June 2026 Primary Election. If approved by voters, the tax would take effect on January 1, 2027.
