NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the Whittier Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber, 13230 Penn Street, to to consider the draft Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) for the City of Whittier, which helps identify potential risks in the community, such as flooding, wildfires, and earthquakes, and outlines actions to reduce the impact of these disasters. (Applicant: City of Whittier).
Adoption of the LHMP is exempt under sections 15061(b)(3), 15060(c)(2) and 15060(c)(3) because it will not result in a direct or reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment and it is not a “project” as defined in California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) guideline section 15378.

Any person wishing to comment on the proposed project may do so in writing between the date of this notice and the public hearing or may be heard in person or via Zoom at the time noted above. All comments must be received prior to or at the time of the public hearing. All such comments will be submitted to the Planning Commission, and the Planning Commission will consider such comments, in addition to any oral testimony, before making a decision.
If these agenda items are challenged in court, the issues may be limited to those raised at the public hearing, described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the Planning Commission at, or prior to, the public hearing. Be advised that as a result of public hearings and comments, the Planning Commission may amend, in whole or in part, the proposed materials. Accordingly, the designations, development standards, design, improvements, or identified properties or lands, may be changed in a way other than specifically proposed.
