NOTICE OF CODE OF ORDINANCES TEXT AMENDMENT
The City of Miramarproposes to adopt the following ordinance:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIRAMAR, FLORIDA, AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF MIRAMAR, PURSUANT TO SECTION 166.041(3)(A), FLORIDA STATUTES; MORE SPECIFICALLY BY AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ENTITLED "ADMINISTRATION," ARTICLE III, ENTITLED "BOARDS, COMMITTEES AND COMMISSIONS," TO CREATE A NEW DIVISION 11, ENTITLED
"FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT PLANNING COMMITTEE, TO SERVE IN AN ADVISORY CAPACITY TO THE CITY COMMISSION ON MATTERS RELATED TO FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PARTICIPATION IN THE COMMUNITY RATING SYSTEM (CRS) OF THE NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM (NFIP), IMPLEMENTATION AND MONITORING OF THE CITYS NEWLY ADOPTED FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT PLAN AND PROGRAM FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION DEVELOPED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CRS CREDIT CRITERIA FOUND WITHIN ACTIVITIES 510 AND 330 OF THE 2025 CRS COORDINATORS MANUAL, RESPECTIVELY, FLOOD RISK REDUCTION, FLOOD VULNERABILITY MINIMIZATION, AND LONG-TERM RESILIENCE STRATEGIES TO BETTER PROTECT THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTIES OF THE CITY FROM THE EFFECTS OF FLOOD HAZARDS; MAKING FINDINGS; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR CORRECTION OF SCRIVENERS ERRORS; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Please be advised that a public hearing on this Ordinance will be held by the City Commission on Wednesday, May 20 th , 2026 at 7:00 pm (First Reading), and on Wednesday, June 3 rd , 2026, at 7:00 pm (Second Reading) in the City Commission Chambers, Miramar Town Center City Hall, 2300 Civic Center Place, Miramar, Florida 33025. The public hearing may be continued from time to time by the City Commission.
A copy of the proposed Ordinance and amendment to the texts of the City of Miramar Code of Ordinances may be inspected in the Building, Planning and Zoning Department, City of Miramar, 2200 Civic Center Place, Miramar, Florida, during regular business hours 8 am to 6 pm, Monday through Thursday, City holidays excepted.
Members of the public and any interested parties wishing to participate remotely in these scheduled public meetings are required to register at least 24 hours before each scheduled meeting date at:
MiramarEvents.Webex.com. When joining the meeting(s), participants will be automatically added on listen-only mode and will be granted access to speak when recognized. Interested parties can also provide e-comments 24 hours prior to the meeting.
ANY PERSON WISHING TO APPEAL THE DECISION OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD AND/OR THE CITY COMMISSION WILL NEED A VERBATIM RECORD OF THE MEETINGS PROCEEDINGS, WHICH RECORD INCLUDES THE TESTIMONY AND EVIDENCE UPON WHICH THE APPEAL IS TO BE BASED (SECTION 286.0105. FLORIDA STATUTES). THIS NOTICE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE CONSENT BY THE CITY FOR THE INTRODUCTION OR ADMISSION INTO EVIDENCE OF OTHERWISE INADMISSIBLE OR IRRELEVANT EVIDENCE, NOR DOES IT AUTHORIZE CHALLENGES OR APPEALS NOT OTHERWISE ALLOWED BY LAW.
