The City of Daytona Beach will perform a flushing and treating of the water distribution system beginning on Sunday, May 17th, 2026. This includes South Daytona customers. This will involve changing the disinfectant from the chloramines we presently use to free chlorine. We will allow the free chlorine residual to move out into the distribution system while we conduct a flushing of the water mains. We are doing this to improve the quality of water we supply. During this time the water continues to be of the highest quality and totally safe to drink. However, with a change in disinfectant, some customers may notice a slight difference in the taste of the water. The treatment and flushing will be completed on Sunday, June 7th, 2026, at which time we will return to chloramines.
