Notice of Public Hearing
The Town of Melbourne Village, Florida proposes adopting the following ordinance:
ORDINANCE 2026-03 - Signs
AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF MELBOURNE VILLAGE, BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, REPEALING CHAPTER 16.5, SIGNS, IN ITS ENTIRETY; CREATING SECTION 16.5-1, ESTABLISHING THE INTENT OF THE ORDINANCE; CREATING SECTION 16.5-2, PROVIDING DEFINITIONS; CREATING SECTION 16.5-3, PROVIDING GENERAL STANDARDS FOR ALL RESIDENTIAL SIGNS; CREATING SECTION 16.5-4, RELATING TO PERMITTING AND APPLICATION; CREATING SECTION 16.5-5, RELATING TO SIGNS EXEMPTED FROM PERMITTING PROCEDURES; CREATING SECTION 16.5-6, PROVIDING TIME LIMITATIONS FOR TEMPORARY FLAGS AND BANNERS; CREATING SECTION 16.5-7, RELATING TO PROHIBITED SIGNS; CREATING SECTION 16.5-8, RELATING TO MAINTENANCE OF ERECTED SIGNS; CREATING SECTION 16.5-9 RELATING TO NONCONFORMING SIGNS; CREATING SECTION 16.5-10, ESTABLISHING PENALTIES; FOR RESOLVING CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
The ordinance will be considered for adoption by the Town Commission at its Tuesday, May 26, 2026, meeting at the Town Hall, 555 Hammock Road, Melbourne Village, FL, 32904. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. . Copies of the Ordinance are on file at the Town Hall or/and on the Town Website (melbournevillage.org) and may be inspected by the public. Interested parties may appear at this meeting and be heard with respect to the adoption of the ordinance. Written comments may be submitted at or before the meeting. Address correspondence to the Town Clerk, 555 Hammock Road, Melbourne Village, FL 32904, or e-mail townclerk@melbournevillagel.org . The public hearing may be continued from time to time.
Pursuant to Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, the Town hereby advises the public that: If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the Town Commission with respect to any matter considered at its meeting or hearing, will need a record of the proceedings, and that for such purpose, affected persons may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
