Ryder Chris Schneider, Council Members IN THE MATTER - of – THE INCREASE AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE EAST MEADOW WATER DISTRICT IN THE TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD COUNTY OF NASSAU, STATE OF NEW YORK WHEREAS, the Deputy Commissioner of the Town of Hempstead Department of Water (the “Deputy Commissioner”), as the representative of the East Meadow Water District (the “District”), proposed certain improvements consisting of the replacement of an elevated water tank located at the western terminus of Mitchel Street in Uniondale, also known as Section 56 Block 262 Lot 001 on the Nassau County Land and Tax Map, and requested the Town Board hold a public hearing regarding said improvements of the District; and WHEREAS, this Board previously authorized and ordered $10,500,000.00 to be financed by the issuance of obligations of the Town of Hempstead for the aforementioned increase and improvement under TBR #152-2025; and, WHEREAS, the Deputy Commissioner submitted to this Board a $9,500,000.00 increased estimate of cost relating to said increase and improvement of the District (new total $20,000,000.00); and, WHEREAS, the proposed increase and improvement is a Type II Action pursuant to the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act and 6 N.Y.C.R.R. Part 617 ; and, WHEREAS, it is in the public interest that the Town Board of the Town of Hempstead consider the proposition herein set forth and to call a public hearing thereon; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT, ORDERED, the proposed increase and improvement is a Type II Action pursuant to the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act and 6 N.Y.C.R.R. Part 617; and be it further, ORDERED, a public hearing be held by this Town Board on the 12th day of May, 2026 at 10:30 o’clock in the forenoon at the Town Meeting Pavilion, Hempstead Town Hall, Town Hall Plaza,1 Washington Street, Hempstead, Nassau County, New York, on the increase and improvement of the East Meadow Water District consisting of the replacement of an elevated water tank located at the western terminus of Mitchel Street in Uniondale, also known as Section 56 Block 262 Lot 001 on the Nassau County Land and Tax Map, and any other minor repairs to such structure, at an estimated maximum cost of $20,000,000.00 to be financed by the issuance of obligations of the Town.
